All game sequences are streamed as YouTube videos. YouTube must not be blocked.

Scroll of Fate is a project of the non-profit association KID-Institut.
The role-playing game can be played completely anonymously and without registration. In this case, however, there are some technically related limitations:
- if a game is interrupted because the browser is closed, or because there is no activity for 15 minutes, it cannot be resumed – all data is automatically deleted
- no player data is stored – only the chapter data is loaded from a database on the server
- all current game data is stored only locally on the player's computer
A membership in the KID-Institut association offers the following advantages (a free membership is also possible):
- the data of the current game is stored in the database on the server
- a game can be paused at any time and continued later
- there is the option of a free membership

The character sheet is your personal command centre during the adventure — it shows you at all times who you are, what you carry, and what situation you are in.
Status Bar (top)
At the top you can see your current state at a glance:
- HP: Your hit points — if this value reaches 0, your adventure is over.
- KK / RV: Combat power and armour value, which determine your strength in battle.
- EP: Your accumulated experience points. They increase through won battles and endings reached.
- MP / CP: Mana Points (Mage) or Chi Points (Monk) — only visible when your class requires it.
Resources
Below the status bar you find your supplies as coloured chips: Gold, Potions, Meals, Light, Ward, and Clues. Potions can be used directly from this bar — even in the middle of combat.
Play Area (centre)
This is where the adventure unfolds: text, decisions, skill checks, and combat are displayed in sequence in this area. Each interaction leads you to the next scene.
Inventory & Disciplines
Your backpack (10 slots) and your learned disciplines are also visible on the character sheet. Disciplines can be actively used in combat — provided the necessary resources are available.
The character sheet saves your progress automatically. You can pause the adventure at any time and continue where you left off.
Welcome to Aurathel. As an Aspirant of the Order of the Watchers, your survival is inextricably linked to your stats and equipment. Here is the guide for your first journey:
1. Your Core Stats
- hp (Hit Points): Your current life. If they reach 0, your journey ends irreversibly.
- kk (Combat Power): Determines your hit chance, your damage, and how quickly you react in battle (initiative).
- rv (Armour Value): This is the hit threshold for enemies. A foe must roll higher than your rv to injure you.
- mp/cp: Special resources for Mages (Mana Points) or Monks (Chi Points) to use powerful disciplines. Only shown when present.
2. Resources & Supplies
- Gold: Required for trading with Ravens or villagers.
- Potions: Restore +10 hp immediately – vital, as they can be used mid-combat.
- Meals: Heal +5 hp outside of combat and are needed to cure the debuff “Exhausted” during a rest.
- Light: Light charges are required to explore dark cellars or tunnels; many paths are blocked without light.
- Ward: Sacred protection against the influences of the Hollow.
- Clues: Gather knowledge to uncover secrets or rescue characters like the scout Edrec.
3. Items & Inventory
Your backpack has limited space (10 slots). Choose wisely what you carry:
- Weapons: Increase your combat power (kk bonus) and determine your damage die.
- Armour: Boosts your armour value (rv bonus), but may slow you down.
- Other: Items like the Seal Shard or Chalk take up space but are often the only way to seal the Hollow Rift and reach the “Good Ending.”
4. Events & Decisions
- Decisions: Paths are often gated by conditions (e.g. you may need a specific discipline or item).
- Skill Checks: The die (D20) plus your bonus decides whether an action succeeds.
- Combat: A turn-based exchange of blows. You can attack, defend, heal, or flee.
- Marks: Beware the Marks of the Hollow! Collect too many and you lose your name — the game ends in Oblivion.
